The Central West Hospital and Health Board has paid tribute to the life and legacy of Anne Kidd, recognising her extraordinary contribution to nursing, rural healthcare and the Windorah
community.

Central West Hospital and Health Board Chair Jane Williams said Anne's impact extended far beyond the health service, leaving a lasting mark on generations of people across Windorah and the wider Channel Country.

"There are some people who leave a lasting footprint on our communities, and Anne Kidd was certainly one of them," Ms Williams said.

"Anne's extraordinary contribution to nursing and the people of Windorah is a wonderful example of what rural and remote healthcare is all about.

“Her dedication, compassion, resilience and genuine care for others made her much more than a nurse.

She was a trusted face, a reassuring presence and an important part of the fabric of her community."

Ms Williams said those who worked in rural and remote healthcare understood that caring for communities went well beyond the walls of a health facility.

"Rural and remote healthcare is built on relationships, trust and a willingness to be there when people need you most. It is about turning up, going the extra mile and making a genuine difference in people's lives," she said.

"Anne embodied all of those qualities. Her commitment to caring for others and her deep connection to community earned the respect, gratitude and admiration of everyone who knew her."

Ms Williams said it was particularly fitting that the new Windorah Primary Health Centre, opened in March 2023, was dedicated to Anne and her husband Sandy in recognition of their outstanding contribution to health, emergency and social care across Windorah and the wider Channel Country.

"What a wonderful and lasting tribute to two people who gave so much of themselves to their community," Ms Williams said.

"Their names will remain a reminder to future generations of the difference that kindness, commitment and genuine community spirit can make."

Ms Williams said Anne's legacy reflected the values that made the Central West such a special place.

"People like Anne are at the heart of our communities. Her many years of dedicated service, her unwavering commitment to others and her ability to bring comfort and reassurance to those around her leave a legacy that we can all be incredibly proud of," she said.

"On behalf of the Central West Hospital and Health Board, I extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to Anne's family, friends and colleagues.

"We are incredibly grateful for her extraordinary contribution to rural and remote healthcare.

Anne will be remembered with great affection, admiration and respect."
