We have 15 Consumer and Community Advisory Networks across the region.

Each group meets once a month. They discuss how your hospitals and health services can improve in the following areas:

  • patient experience
  • safety and quality
  • services
  • certain health issues.

We provide training for all new members. It includes what our advisory network does and how we engage with the community.

The Consumer and Community Advisory Network Chairs meet once a month to bring the discussions of their communities to the Board and Executive of the Health Service.

Who can join

You must:

  • be at least 16 years old
  • attend meetings and contribute
  • represent what the community thinks and needs
  • say what patients, families and carers need, and what work best for them
  • work well with other members and our staff.

We encourage people who understand the needs of other groups to apply.

These include:

  • people with disabilities
  • older persons
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It can also be helpful if you have links with other health consumer or community groups.
