Central West Health Strategic Plan

The Central West Hospital and Health Service has set its priorities for the next four years with the release of its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan.

“We want to be the trusted, resourceful and dependable provider of quality far-reaching healthcare,’’ Central West Hospital and Health Board Chair Jane Williams said.

“Our ultimate purpose is to provide safe, effective, and sustainable health services that people trust and value to our diverse communities.

“Our new strategic plan is an aspirational document that sets out our organisational goals and priorities for the next four years and how we are going to achieve them.

“The plan ensures we are all working towards common goals with agreed outcomes and helps focus our organisational efforts and resources in the agreed directions.’

“This document represents the efforts, knowledge and time of our people, our partners, and our local communities; who all contributed to shape the future direction of our hospital and health service.

“Through this collaborative effort, we have a vision of where we want to be over the next four years and the ability to measure our progress and performance transparently against headline measures.’’

Ms Williams said the plan identified new strategic opportunities over the coming years, including increasing use of digital healthcare, and greater focus on preventative care and wellbeing.

“We live in an often-unforgiving landscape with vast geographical differences and distances with a diverse population, so our strategic plan promotes innovative solutions to deliver the right service, at the right place, at the right time,’’ she said.

“The plan is centred around three strategic objectives of People, Services and Systems.

“There are strategies to meet the changing needs of our staff and community including aged care, mental health, First National Health Equity, workplace safety, culture, and staff retention incentives.

“Within each of those three priority areas, there are measurable objectives that are transparent to the community.

“We will be reporting on these objectives and staying accountable to our communities.

“For instance, one of the key objectives under both the People and Services priorities is to build on our connections with local Indigenous communities to implement our ongoing strategies to close the gap in health outcomes.

“We also want to continue improving equity of access to services for all our communities, meet the aged care needs of our communities and build on our mental health, alcohol, and other drugs services across the region.

“We have big plans, big objectives but I believe our health service is up to the challenges ahead and we are looking forward to continuing our dedicated and committed service delivery.’’
